Sounding Board was an expansive and explorative Mortal Fools project funded by Youth Music. Culminating in a collection of short films, performances and songs made by young people across Northumberland, the process involved working with multiple groups of young people and children in different settings to create musical material that resonated with who they wanted to be, what they wanted to express, and how they wanted the world to change.
Fear
A small part of a larger film called One Last Adventure, this is a musical and sonic exploration of fear written by children in Ashington. The children recorded their own scary sounds to up the spook-factor. Fear might be, well - scary - but is there a chance it can help us build courage, work together and share vulnerability?

Let’s Stand Up and Save the World
Part rap, part eco-activist tyraid, this is a piece written by children from Riding Mill and the surrounding area about taking responsibility for your waste, caring for the environment and the creatures within it, and existing sustainably.
Nonsense Rules
An iconoclastic, satirical jab at the world of adults and how the restriction of expression at school has consequences for the wider world - written by and facilitated with a group of young people at regular online sessions.
